for our students.GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTIONThe Director of Student
Engagement at Tiffin University is a visionary leader dedicated to
cultivating a dynamic, inclusive, and engaging campus culture that
empowers students to thrive both personally and academically. This
role is central to shaping a vibrant student experience through
strategic leadership, innovation, and collaboration. Reporting to
the Assistant Dean of Student Development and Transformation, the
Director will lead the planning, coordination, and execution of
impactful student activities and leadership development
programs.The Director's mission is to create an environment where
every student feels connected and valued, fostering a sense of
belonging and purpose. By working closely with student
organizations, university departments, and community partners, the
Director will strategically align campus activities with the
university's mission of student success. Key areas of leadership
include the Campus Activities Board, Student Government, Greek
Council, and major events like Welcome Week, Homecoming, and Spring
Fest. The Director will also spearhead initiatives to promote
student leadership, facilitate meaningful event communication, and
champion diversity and inclusion through purposeful programming and
engagement. Requirements:MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESStudent
Organization Oversight- The Director nurtures student growth by
emphasizing accountability, ethical leadership, and active
engagement within the university community. This role fosters a
culture where student leaders are empowered to create meaningful
and impactful experiences by providing guidance, structure, and
support.Advise and support student organizations, ensuring
up-to-date constitutions, executive boards, and event attendance
records.Ensure student organizations comply with university
policies and offer continuous training to student leaders and
advisors.Meet regularly with student organization presidents to
discuss activities and challenges and provide guidance for future
planning.Event Planning and Coordination- The Director's role in
coordinating these events is to weave diverse perspectives,
talents, and ideas into moments reflecting student life's vibrancy.
This process emphasizes foresight, collaboration, and the
logistical precision needed to turn vision into reality.Collaborate
with marketing and the Coordinator of Assessment to develop and
maintain a comprehensive university events calendar.Assist student
organizations with event planning logistics, including budgeting,
contracts, room reservations, and promotional efforts.Lead and
coordinate university-wide events such as Welcome Week, Homecoming,
Commencement, and Career events, ensuring collaboration across
relevant departments.Lead and develop student engagement activities
aligned with the Engaged Fridays initiative.Student Leadership
Development- The Director instills the ICARE values to develop
vision, service, and collaboration by advising and mentoring
student leaders. This area nurtures the next generation of leaders
prepared to address challenges with confidence, empathy, and
strategic insight.Serve as an advisor to student council and campus
leaders, providing leadership development opportunities and support
for event planning and execution.Oversee budgets for student
council and student organizations, coordinating with the
Development and Business Offices to manage expenses and sponsorship
opportunities.Facilitate regular meetings of the Student Life
Committee with the Board of Trustees and student
leaders.Collaboration and Community Building- Working with diverse
departments and student groups, the Director of Student Engagement
cultivates an environment where unity and mutual respect are
central. This role advocates for inclusivity, ensuring that all
students feel seen, heard, and valued and that every initiative
strengthens the fabric of the campus community.Collaborate with
various departments, including Academic Affairs, Operations,
Residence-life, Career Service, and Marketing, to support and
promote student initiatives and events.Engage with the university's
diverse student population to foster an inclusive and welcoming
environment through programming that aligns with equity and
cultural wealth initiatives.Develop a strategic partnership Campus
Activities Board (CAB) and Residence Life to ensure events are
aligned with departmental and university goals, creating seamless
connections between residence life programming and student
engagement initiatives.Administrative and Supervisory Duties -
Through efficient organization, resource allocation, and
assessment, the Director ensures that student engagement efforts
are impactful and sustainable.Manage event vendors, student
workers, and volunteers to ensure successful execution while
overseeing event budgets and tracking expenditures.Maintain and
promote a master calendar of student services marketing initiatives
in partnership with the Marketing Department.Collect and analyze
data on diversity, inclusion, student engagement efforts, and
reporting outcomes to guide future initiatives.Oversee and monitor
the performance of the Student Engagement Graduate Assistant (GA),
ensuring they are effectively utilized in developing and
implementing additional programming as outlined in their job
description.Provide guidance, support, and feedback to ensure the
GA work aligns with departmental goals and enhances student
engagement initiativeOversee and monitor the performance of the
Student Staff working in the Dragon Lair/Game room, ensuring they
are effectively utilized in developing and implementing additional
programming as outlined in their job description.KEY PERFORMANCE
INDICATORS (KPIs)Student Organization EngagementGoal: Achieve 90%
participation in student organization officer training sessions and
a 75% increase in student organization membership
year-over-year.Event Planning EfficiencyGoal: Ensure 95% of events
are planned and executed within budget and on schedule, with an 85%
satisfaction rate from event participants.Leadership Development
ImpactGoal: Conduct bi-annual leadership training sessions with a
90% attendance rate and 80% positive participant
feedback.Collaboration and Community InvolvementGoal: Increase
inter-departmental collaboration on student events by 50%, with
100% of large-scale events involving multiple university
departments.Diversity and Inclusion OutcomesGoal: Collaborate with
the DEI office to implement and assess at least three diversity and
inclusion initiatives annually, with a target of 85% positive
participant feedback.Engaged Friday Event PromotionEnsure all
Engaged Friday events are communicated to the Campus Activities
Board at least one week in advance and publicized on the TU Mobile
app and Engaged Friday website.Success Metric: 95% of events are
provided to CAB for promotion; 100% of events are listed on both
platforms five days in advance.Calendar Coordination and Event
ApprovalGoal: Reduce overlapping events by 90% and ensure 100% of
student organization and faculty-held events are approved and added
to the shared calendar within 48 hours.Event Assessment and
TrainingGoal: Conduct two training sessions per semester on event
assessment, with 80% of Student Affairs events submitting
assessment plans within two weeks post-event.Long-Range Student
Engagement GoalsGoal: Compile a report each semester on student
engagement in off-campus activities on Fridays, including
internships and work.Campus Activities Board (CAB)
DevelopmentEstablish an annual development plan to enhance the
CAB's coordination with Residence Life, ensuring 75% of residence
